Sue me for destroying earth

cientists are now activating the LHC in CERN near Geneva. Physicists believe that tiny black holes might appear and disappear in the process.

Some people (including some scientists) claim that the black holes might not disappear, and the entire earth might collapse into one of those black holes. There has actually been a law suit demanding to stop the experiment.

Obviously the scientists who run the experiment say that they have done the math and that this couldn’t happen. Or at least wasn’t very likely to happen. They do seem to have a good proof: the high energy collisions that they plan happen all the time, but earth is still here…

(http://public.web.cern.ch/Public/en/LHC/Safety-en.html) There still seem to be some relativity issues, but the proponents seem to be confident.

Of course people have claimed that many things might destroy humanity. We thought the melting ice caps might destroy earth as we know it, but it turns out the melting arctic ice simply made room for new beach resorts.

The way I see it, if we don’t do the experiment, we will all be sorry stopping science (and for spending billions of dollars on a giant underground promenade).
If we do the experiment and things go wrong, we won’t be here to be sorry for anything and all those people arguing against the experiment can sue for damages.
